Flood4castRTF: A Real-Time Urban Flood Forecasting Model

نویسندگان

چکیده

Worldwide, climate change increases the frequency and intensity of heavy rainstorms. The increasing severity consequent floods has major socio-economic impacts, especially in urban environments. Urban flood modelling supports assessment these both current conditions for forecasted scenarios. Over past decade, model frameworks that allow real-time have been gaining widespread popularity. Flood4castRTF is a novel applies grid-based approach at scale coarser than most recent detailed physically based models. Automatic set-up on commonly available GIS data facilitates quick building contrast with grid applied pursues better agreement resolution forcing rainfall allows speeding up calculations. conceptualises cell-to-cell interactions while same time maintaining relevant interpretable physical descriptions flow drivers resistances. A case study comparison results from two models shows do not necessarily outperform accuracy flooded areas in-between successful application high scenario demonstrated. reduced need, consisting mainly widely data, makes presented applicable scarce regions no terrain inventories. Moreover, method cost effective applications which require modelling.

Real Time Flood Forecasting - Indian Experiences

The real time flood forecasting is one of the most effective nonstructural measures for flood management. For formulating the flood forecast in the real time, the observed meteorological and flow data are transmitted to the forecasting station through the different means of data communication which include telephone, wireless and network of telemetry stations etc. The collected meteorological a...

Advances in real-time flood forecasting.

This paper discusses the modelling of rainfall-flow (rainfall-run-off) and flow-routeing processes in river systems within the context of real-time flood forecasting. It is argued that deterministic, reductionist (or 'bottom-up') models are inappropriate for real-time forecasting because of the inherent uncertainty that characterizes river-catchment dynamics and the problems of model over-param...

Real time flood forecasting in the Upper Danube basin

This paper reports on experience with developing the flood forecasting model for the Upper Danube basin and its operational use since 2006. The model system consists of hydrological and hydrodynamic components, and involves precipitation forecasts. The model parameters were estimated based on the dominant processes concept. Runoff data are assimilated in real time to update modelled soil moistu...

Bayesian Theory Based Self-Adapting Real-Time Correction Model for Flood Forecasting

Real-time correction models provide the possibility to reduce uncertainties in flood prediction. However, most traditional techniques cannot accurately capture many sources of uncertainty and provide a quantitative evaluation. To account for a wide variety of uncertainties in flood forecasts and overcome the limitations of stationary samples in a changing climate, a Bayesian theory based Self-a...

A spatially distributed flash flood forecasting model

This paper presents a distributed model that is in operational use for forecasting flash floods in northern Austria. The main challenge in developing the model was parameter identification which was addressed by a modelling strategy that involved a model structure defined at the model element scale and multi-source model identification. The model represents runoff generation on a grid basis and...
